Comprehensivemedical history with typical local pain
Detailed physical examination
with typical positive palpation findings, stretching tests and functional testing of the muscles
Detailed ultrasound examination (sonography), also X-ray diagnostics.
Both examinations are carried out directly at the first visit to the practice.
A magnetic resonance imaging examination
to determine the extent of the muscle injury or accompanying injuries to the tendons and fasciae and changes on the joint side.
Physiotherapy
In the acute phase of grade 1 + 2, an attempt is made to relieve tension, in particular to negotiate muscular imbalances and resolve trigger points or detonate myogelosis.
Anti-inflammatory treatment
Overnight ointment dressings or oral medication with ibuprofen, diclofenac, metamizole etc. reduce the oedema, as well as the inflammatory activity and pain of the injury.
Acupuncture
The functional circuit principleaccording to Gleditsch and Energetic Terminal Point Diagnosis according to Mandel are forms of treatment that are used to treat muscle groups.
Injection treatmentwith ACP
Thiscan stimulate muscle healing. It also leads to a reduction in pain and an improvement in mobility.
Infiltration is carried out on the 4th + 8th + 15th day of the injury.
Physiotherapy
In the acute phase, grade 1 + 2, an attempt is made to relieve tension, in particular to treat muscular imbalances and resolve trigger points or detonate myogelosis.
Later on, specific strains are prevented by activating other muscles in order to avoid overloading. Daily mobilization of tense muscles initiates the healing process.
The healing process is initiated by mobilizing and stretching the tense muscles in daily self-exercises.
Caution for grade 3 + 4 injuries: no mechanical stress until the hematoma has healed.
Daily physiotherapy with lymphatic drainage immediately after the injury. Medical treatment with acupuncture and injections at least twice a week for muscle fiber tears.
Depending on the severity of the damage, we recommend 3-5 ACP treatments at weekly intervals.
However, we create an individual treatment plan for each of our patients, in which the current damage and expectations (e.g. sporting strain) play a significant role.
After a few days, the tension in the injured muscle eases and you feel significant relief.
ACP
ACP often has a significant anti-inflammatory effect immediately after the first injection. The patient usually notices how the corresponding muscle reacts after the injections.
Only very slight pain with acupuncture or injection.
With ACP treatment, a small blood sample is also taken and the muscle can react very slightly when the regeneration processes begin. However, this only lasts for a day and is described by patients as "working in the muscle" rather than pain.
Sporting activity is possible again after 2-3 weeks in the case of muscle hardening and muscle strain, and after 4-6 weeks in the case of muscle fiber tears.
Both hyaluronic acid and ACP are the body's own substances, and ACP even uses the body's own blood. This is why side effects hardly ever occur.
We avoid the risk of infection from an injection into a joint by disinfecting extremely thoroughly, e.g. we use the same disinfectant that is used for disinfection during operations. This is a very costly disinfection process, but we want to ensure maximum safety for our patients.
Many years ago, autologous blood therapy was also used to treat chronic wounds, so the risk of infections, which are very rare anyway, is significantly lower.
Acupuncture and ACP treatment are rarely covered.
As ACP is a new treatment method and is still being researched, unfortunately not all private health insurance companies cover the treatment costs. As several studies have proven the effectiveness of ACP, we therefore recommend that you ask your health insurance provider in advance whether they will cover the treatment. Our entire team will be happy to support you with applications for your insurance with an additional letter from us. Reference is also made here to the latest literature, which can also be provided in written form at any time.
In the case of complete muscle tears and tendinous tears with muscle retraction, surgical reinsertion/stitching is the treatment of choice; fortunately, this degree of injury is rare.
Can an injury heal itself without major treatment?
Painful muscle hardening (grade 1) and muscle strains (grade 2) can be favorably influenced by the PECH scheme, i.e. rest, ice, compression bandage, elevation.
In the event of surgery, you must take it easy for 3-6 weeks.
